We tested all of our grime hashtags individually, to make sure that they will perform for you, and we will also give you instructions to peak engagement on each social media platform… AND! I will show you how I went from 4,000 to 58,000 views a month on Pinterest in just 5 weeks!

Grime Hashtags – Colored Question Marks

How Many Hashtags Do I Use?

That Instagram reaches peak engagement at nine hashtags, but for Facebook and Twitter, it’s best to only use 2-3 hashtags? It’s true… And most people don’t know that, but it says in this study that Twitter peaks engagement at 2 hashtags… After that, on the third hashtag, you take a 21% drop!

That said, we decided to write down the optimum amount of hashtags to use on each platform so that you can jot it down somewhere and start to get better engagement. Here are the optimal amount of hashtags for all of the major social media platforms: (assuming that you use a
proper hashtag strategy, avoid one-sided relationships, and all of the other major dos and don’ts of social media)

Facebook Hashtags

Facebook is a little different than most platforms, because they started using hashtags a little late in the game, and they don’t revolve their entire indexing and search functions on them. However, hashtags do perform on Facebook. To properly use hashtags on Facebook, you want to use 1, or no more than 2 hashtags with a post.

Optimal Hashtags: 1-2

Twitter Hashtags

Most people think that Twitter hashtags would be fine with about 5-7 hashtags because that’s what you see the majority of brands doing in their posts. But on the contrary, and there have been several similar studies, but Twitter is a little bit pickier than we thought about hashtags!

Apparently, one to two hashtags will give you an average of around 21% engagement, and tweets with 3 hashtags drop you down to 17% engagement. Funny. I always just used 5-7 and thought I was fine, but the social media pros are always busy making sure that they have all the right facts, and I guess I was wrong LOL.

So yeah…

Twitter Hashtags: 1-2

Instagram Hashtags

Most people think that Twitter hashtags would be fine with about 5-7 hashtags because that’s what you see the majority of brands doing in their posts. But on the contrary, and there have done several similar studies, but Twitter is a little bit pickier than we thought about hashtags!

So that means that the 21 hashtag option is not the best way to do it. You should be using between 9 and 11 to peak engagement on Instagram.

Instagram: 9-11
